Brazil A.P.E. Cache Terrain

The hike to the Brazil APE cache is a rugged 30-40 minute hike on undulating terrain in the rainforest. During the hike, it’s important that hikers stick together. The pace will be steady with time to be careful. Expect it to be hot and wet with tall vegetation that closes in on the trail in places so you are not always able to see your feet. There is a hill at the beginning of the hike which is a bit steep. The main trail is wider and the side trail to the APE is narrow and a bit tricky in spots because you need to go around or over fallen trees. The side trail is also hilly and it’s along the edge of a bit of a small valley where a person needs to watch their footing. This is the rainforest so expect rain, which makes the trails muddy and very slippery. Plan to get muddy and very wet, and you won’t be disappointed.

Brazil APE GeoTour:  This GeoTour has caches that vary in terrain. Of note, there is a hike to a summit or high point in the park that is included in the GeoTour. It is quite a climb with an amazing view!

In summary, each individual will need to focus on their own footing and safety. Unlike other Landsharkz cruises and excursions, this one will be much more physically demanding and participants must be fully reliant on their own physical ability to get them through the jungle to the geocaches. Participants must be able to manage these conditions without holding back the group and cannot rely on others in the group, nor the guides or tour directors to compensate for their inability to manage the trails under their own steam. Again, the pace will be steady with time to be careful.

If you have a collapsable hiking pole that fits in your suitcase, this is a good time to bring it!
